On the post-recession domestic landscape it is not uncommon to have a client who cannot afford to comply with a property settlement, support order that was based on pre-recession asset values and income. The bankruptcy code offers these clients real help in dealing with these court ordered payments, including child and spousal support arrearages. Will bankruptcy stop a contempt proceeding?
